Arlington, Elkton-Lake Preston pick up area VB wins

Arlington and Elkton-Lake Preston claimed wins over Lake Preston and Deubrook Area, respectively, in volleyball held around the area Thursday night.

LAKE PRESTON – Arlington’s Hadley Carlson had 16 kills and 13 digs as the Cardinals picked up a straight-set Dakota Valley Conference win over Lake Preston on Thursday night.

The Cardinals won by set scores of 25-3, 25-12, and 25-16.

Morgan Larsen also posted double-digit kills for Arlington, finishing the match with ten, while picking up a pair of blocks, as well.

Grace Perry and Harley Johnson each had a pair of service aces for Arlington as the Cardinals extended their winning streak to 15 games.

Lake Preston’s Faith Steffensen and Marissa Rober each had three kills for the Divers.

Kate Ries, Milli Waikel, and Hadlee Holt all posted an ace in the match.

Holt led Lake Preston with ten digs, while Ava Malone added six, and Trinity Pirlet chipped in with three.

Arlington (20-3, 6-0 DVC) will take the weekend off before hosting Sioux Valley on Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m.

Lake Preston (6-14, 0-5 DVC)  plays host to Elkton-Lake Benton on Monday beginning at 7 p.m.

ELKTON – Four Lady Elks posted double-digit kills as Elkton-Lake Benton picked up a win over Deubrook Area on Thursday night.

The Lady Elks won in four sets by scores of 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-16.

Rachael Krog led Elkton-Lake Benton with 13 kills, and both Kailyn Drietz and Madisyn Nielsen added 11.

Aubree Bales posted ten kills as the fourth Lady Elk with double-figure kills.

Krog posted three service aces and also added 18 digs and a block.

Drietz and Kylie Ramlo each led the Lady Elks with 26 digs, and Tevan Erickson contributed 19.

Krog added 18 more digs, while Kinsley Krog had 17 digs and Kayla Goertz had 13.

Elkton-Lake Benton had four total blocks in the match; Ramlo posted the lone single block, while Aubree Bales contributed with three block assists.

Erickson’s 49 helped the Lady Elks pick up the win.

Skyla Petersen posted ten kills to lead Deubrook Area, while Emma Vandermeer added nine, and Miranda Moravetz posted eight.

The Dolphins’ logged three service aces in the match, all by Brooke Koppatschek.

Skyla Peterson’s ten kills paced the Dolphins, while Emma Vandermeer added nine, and Taylor Ekern eight.

A pair of Dolphins handled setter duties, as Koppatschek posted 16 assists, and Ellie Koenig added 14.

Moravetz’s 30 digs, Koppatschek’s 16, and Taylor Ekern’s 15 led Deubrook Area defensively.

With the win, Elkton-Lake Benton improves to 12-10 on the season. The Lady Elks are at Lake Preston on Monday starting at 7 p.m.

Deubrook Area’s mark slips to 12-8. The Sioux Valley Cossacks pay a visit to White tomorrow, scheduled for a 6 p.m. first serve in the varsity match.
