BROOKINGS – Two suspects have been arrested for allegedly taking part in a robbery and assault in Brookings last week, and two other suspects have been identified, according to Lt. Marci Gebers of the Brookings Police.

A man reported four people robbed him of $1,000 and assaulted him on Nov. 6 in the 900 block of 25th Avenue. Officers determined the victim was there for a drug deal. He was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and ingesting.

“On Thursday, Nov. 8, the Huron Police Department was able to locate and arrest the two individuals that we had identified as being involved in the robbery,” Gebers said.

Arrested on those outstanding warrants were suspects Rianne Blaine, 20, of Brookings and Mason Brock, 20, of Brookings. They are each facing felony charges of second-degree robbery, aiding and abetting aggravated assault, and grand theft. Both were still in custody at the Brookings County Detention Center as of Wednesday afternoon, held on $10,000 cash-only bonds.

“We were able to also identify the two other individuals that were in the van with them and they are also facing charges for their roles,” Gebers said, adding those two are not in custody yet.

“One is an adult male and one is a juvenile male, both from out of town,” she said.
