Arthur “Art” Duane De Young, 83, died March 26, 2018, at Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas.

Art was born on Sept. 29, 1934 in Ireton, Iowa to Theodore and Margaret De Young. As a young child, his family moved to a farm near Estelline, South Dakota, which is where Art was raised. Since his youth, Art enjoyed everything automotive, he loved buying and selling cars, and going to the races. He also enjoyed buying and selling houses.  Art could often be found at thrift stores haggling over the price of jack knives and watches. Later in life, he enjoyed participating in music jams, with his special friend Sue Croft. Art is a retiree from H-D Electric after 29 years as a Lead Journeyman Lineman.

He is preceded in death by his son Duane Arthur De Young, his parents Theodore and Margaret De Young, and his brother-in-law Jerald Ihnen. 

He is survived by his children Gary (Debbie) De Young of Mountain Home, AR, Gina (Bill) Adamson of Brookings, SD, Jodi (Bill Bruns) De Young of Brookings.  His grandchildren Devin (Megan) De Young, Justin (Autumn) De Young, Jamie (Tom) Foerster, Amber Cloud, Stephanie Cloud, Stephen (Shannon) Cloud, Ciara (Brady) Jager, Sarina (Jake) Hanson, Heather (Dave) Roe, and Jacob Myers. And his 20 great-grandchildren as well as by his siblings John (Sandra) De Young, Arlene (Don) Ihnen, Glenice Ihnen; and his special friend Sue Croft.

The visitation will be held on Friday, April 13 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Volga Christian Reformed Church (basement) on Main St, Volga.  

Th funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, at the Volga Christian Reformed Church on Main St, Volga  The family will hold a private burial at a later time.
