Badgers post football win

LAKE PRESTON – Arlington/Lake Preston built a 36-0 halftime lead in a 36-6 defeat of Deubrook Area in Dakota Valley Conference football action Friday night.

Jasper Denison got it going with a 7-yard touchdown rush and then hit Carter Malone for a 37-yard score. Mason Bunker’s 9-yard dash to paydirt made it 20-0 after a quarter.

In the second, Tate Larsen had a 4-yard TD and the Badgers returned a fumble for a TD, pushing the margin to 36-0.

Larsen had eight rushes for 66, Denison 6 for 34 and Bunker two for 17.

Denison was 3-of-6 for 75 yards through the air. Malone hauled in two catches for 50 yards.

The Dolphins’ Treven Grumsrud plunged in from a yard out in the fourth period.

ALP (3-1, 2-0) plays Oldham-Ramona/Rutland on Friday in Rutland. Deubrook (0-5, 0-3) is host to Elkton-Lake Benton.

ELKTON – Jackson Noem ran six times for 156 yards and three touchdowns while adding two receptions covering 68 yards with a score as the Chargers (5-0) topped the Elks on ELB’s Homecoming.

Elkton-Lake Benton’s Ryan Krog ran for 37 yards and threw for 31.

Jack Hemmen tallied eight tackles and forced a fumble.

ELB (1-4) plays at Deubrook Area on Friday.

• Castlewood 41, Colman-Egan 12

COLMAN – Carson Kirwan ran for 67 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Warriors in the DVC game.

He had scoring scampers of 3, 4 and 8 yards.

Trailing 6-0 after a quarter, Castlewood moved ahead 20-12 at halftime and led 27-12 through three.

The Hawks’ Ryan Voelker threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Ryker Hawkins to open the scoring. Voelker added a 3-yard TD rush, leaving the score at 12-6 in the second.

CE’s Cole Hannasch ran for 89 yards on just seven attempts while Voelker picked up 74 yards. Dawson Tolley paced the defense with nine tackles.

Castlewood’s Tristan Nielsen threw for 161 yards, including TD tosses of 36 and 30 yards to Logan Eng. Garret Kerkvliet had 15 stops on the other side of the ball.

Colman-Egan (2-1, 0-1) plays at Alcester-Hudson next, while Castlewood (2-2, 2-1) heads to De Smet.

ESTELLINE – Cole Wilkinson ran for three touchdowns and threw for a pair for the Bulldogs.

Kadyn Fast had a rushing score and also tallied a TD reception. Tory Holland hauled in a pair of touchdown passes. Rett Osthus found the end zone on the ground.

The Redhawks’ Joe McAninch ran for 83 yards and picked up 15 yards on three catches.

Justin Buschenfeld logged 10 tackles and Hezikiah Kreger eight.

De Smet (4-1, 3-0) is host to Castlewood and EH (0-3, 0-2) heads to Centerville this week.
