Barbara Mae Felberg, 91, died June 11, 2018, in Lansing, Michigan.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 9 a.m.

Barbara Mae Felberg was born on May 21, 1927, in Brookings, the daughter  of Harvey and Beulah (Dyball) Ross, 

Barbara received her education in a rural school in Hamlin County, at Estelline High School and graduated from Custer High School in 1945.  Following graduation, she was employed at various businesses in Brookings including the Brookings Hospital, Nelson’s Pharmacy, Felberg Cafe and also provided in home daycare for many families.  She married Ralph O. Felberg on Jan. 28, 1948, in Dell Rapids. They began their family in Brookings  in 1956.

In 1984, following Ralph’s retirement from South Dakota State University, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she continued her in home daycare.  After Ralph’s death on April 5, 1997, Barbara moved back to Brookings in 1999. Then at the age of 80 moved to Grand Ledge, Michigan, in 2007 to be closer to family.

Barbara was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Brookings, the Ladies Circle, The Does of the Elks club and a 50-year member of the VFW Auxiliary.  She attended the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Ledge and helped organize the Low Vision support group meetings at her residence for these past several years.  She enjoyed bowling, crafts, sewing, cooking, playing cards and especially spending time with family and friends.  Everybody loved Barb for her spirit and all will miss her feistiness.

Barbara is survived by her son David Felberg of Omaha, Nebraska, daughter Kimberly Felberg of Grand Ledge, Michigan; five grandchildren; sister-in-law Beverly Ross of Brookings and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Ronald and William Ross and sister in law Mary Ross.
