Barbara Woolworth, 80, of Brookings, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the United Living Community. 

An open visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Eidsness Funeral Home (1617 Orchard Drive, Brookings).  Following Barbara’s wishes, there will be no scheduled funeral service.  A private family burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings at a later date.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting Barbara’s family with arrangements.

Barbara Ann Woolworth was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Milwaukee, WI, to Merlin and Mildred (Grothem) Erickson. She was a 1956 graduate of Brookings High School. She married Donald J. Woolworth, Dec. 15, 1956, Augsburg Lutheran Church, Detroit, MI.

As a teenager, Barbara was employed at the State, College, and Sioux Drive-In Theaters in Brookings, where she met her future husband. Before their marriage, she worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Detroit. After their marriage, they moved to Bel Air, MD, where Don was stationed and she worked at the Army Chemical Center, Edgewood Arsenal. After Don’s service was completed, they returned to Brookings to raise their family. Barb worked as office secretary at First Lutheran Church for 20 years, then as a sales associate at Sonnie’s Trends and Traditions, retiring in 2014. She also served for many years as an election worker for the City of Brookings.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Woolworth of Brookings, daughter Cathy (David) Moklebust of Brookings, son Richard (Jean) Woolworth of Monticello, WI; grandchildren Jennifer (Thomas) Jacobs, Jill (Randall) Crumpler, Sarah (Brett) Ballman, Michael Woolworth, Christopher Moklebust, and Erik Woolworth; great-grandchildren Emily Crumpler, Ethan Crumpler, and Isaac Ballman; brothers David (Bonnie) Erickson of St. Petersburg, FL, and Jay (Margo) Erickson of Tully, NY; nieces, nephew, cousins, and an aunt, Doris Grothem of Belgrade, MN.
