Barthel to hold senior recital

BROOKINGS – Alex Barthel, a music studies major and theatre minor at South Dakota State University, will perform his senior recital at 4 p.m. Sunday in Founders Recital Hall of the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the SDSU campus. 

Barthel, from Brookings, will perform multiple pieces made for the euphonium during the event. Such works include “Capriccio” by Mark Forbes, “Song for Ina” by Phillip Sparke, “Rhapsody for Euphonium” by James Curnow, “Concerto” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and “Softly as I Leave You” by Alfred De Vita. 

Seating for all performance activities at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center is limited due to the COVID-19 protocols. The concert will be livestreamed for viewing by the public using the Facebook Live platform. For a link to the concert, visit the OLPAC website at
