BROOKINGS – Brookings Area Transit Authority (BATA) announces its participation in the South Dakota Day of Giving on Nov. 30, Giving Tuesday.
All November donations to BATA will be directed to the Generosity Fund, a fund created to help struggling families provide children with rides to and from school, as well as helping adults with rides to and from work. BATA is proud to partner with other caring organizations to make this Generosity Fund possible.
From September 2020 to August 2021, the Generosity Fund has supported 1,928 rides, at a cost of $5,784. The majority of these rides were for children. Having a safe and reliable ride to and from school is crucial to a child’s education. Attending school also helps provide nutrition to students who depend upon the school’s breakfast and lunch programs for their daily meals.
BATA representatives ask area residents to consider donating on Nov. 30 to keep the BATA bus wheels rolling.
Donation options include credit card, Venmo, PayPal, check or cash.
The website, www.batabus.com, accepts online donations. Checks can be mailed to BATA, 418 Western Ave., Brookings. Cash donations also accepted at the BATA office.
