BROOKINGS –  Becker’s Hospital Review recently released the 2018 edition of its “100 Great Community Hospitals” list and named Brookings Health System to the list for the third consecutive year.

The hospitals included on this list are recognized for quality, patient satisfaction and overall excellence. The institutions featured on the list play a key role in their communities as the centerpiece for health care. Several of the hospitals have rolled out unique population health initiatives over the past few years and are among the largest employers in their region.

The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected hospitals for inclusion based on analysis of key awards, rankings and certifications in addition to the hospital’s reputation for leadership and innovation. Brookings Health System was mentioned for recently completing the Brookings Hospital expansion and renovation project to serve the vast and growing needs of the Brookings community as well as being named by iVantage as a 2018 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital.

Becker’s has published a version of the list annually since 2011. For the purposes of this list, Becker’s defines a “community hospital” as one with fewer than 550 beds that have minimal teaching programs.
