Betty Colbeck, 67, of Aurora, died Friday, July 7, 2017, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. 

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Life Tabernacle (241 Mustang Pass) in Brookings. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.

Betty Lou Becker was born on Nov. 7, 1949, in Brookings, the daughter of Carl and Dorothy (Vanderbush) Becker. She attended school in Bushnell, Aurora and Brookings, graduating from high school in 1968. She was united in marriage to Ervin Colbeck on Friday 13, in June of 1969. They lived in Rhode Island and Virginia while Erv was serving in the Navy. Ervin and Betty moved to Aurora in 1972 and raised their family. Betty worked at the Red Owl Grocery Store until her paralysis in 1980.

Betty enjoyed traveling, having been to 44 of the 50 states in the union. She was known for her collection of tea pots, and was an avid rummage saler. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Ervin Colbeck, of Aurora; daughter, Holly (Lyle) Hawkinson, of Brookings; son, Jeremy (Lori) Colbeck of Black Hawk; honorary daughter, Natalie (Michael) Watson of Brookings; four grandchildren; an honorary granddaughter; two sisters, Irene (Ed) Bain of Brookings and Dorothy Jean (Bill) Sipple of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; two brothers, William (Jan) Becker, of Eau Claire, Wis., and Larry Becker, of Brookings and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Dorothy Becker; brother, Jimmie (Kelly) Becker; two sisters in infancy, Caroline and Carol Jean Becker; and sister-in-law, Carol Becker.
