BROOKINGS – Heading into Homecoming Week, Brookings High School has selected its 2018 lord and lady candidates.
They are, back row from left: Emma Hardin, Megan Gilk, Isabella Kappenman, Marah Dobrenski and Amanda Flores Schulte; and front row: Isaac von Fischer, Seth Swedlund, Hunter Winghart, Adam Couser and Hossam Halaweish. The lord and lady will be chosen at coronation, which starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Jostad Gym. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for students. Activity cards will not be accepted.
The traditional Burning of the B follows in the south parking lot outside BHS.
Students will participate in a variety of dress-up days and attend spirit events and sporting events throughout the week, including softball, golf, volleyball, soccer, Homecoming Olympics and a pep assembly.
It all leads up to the big homecoming football game, when the Bobcats face Watertown at 7 p.m. Friday at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The BHS Marching Band will perform pregame and halftime shows, and the $1 homecoming dance starts at 9:30 p.m. back at the school.
