Bismarck beats Blizzard, 3-1

BROOKINGS – Bismarck built a 3-0 lead en route to a 3-1 Central Division win over the Blizzard on Friday night at Larson Ice Center.

Grant Johnson cashed in on a power-play chance just six minutes into the game off an assist from Ty Enns before Lukas Millen found the back of the net with 7 1/2 minutes left in the first period as the Bobcats led 2-0 after one.

Adam Stacho’s goal pushed the visitors lead to 3-0 early in the second before Jimmy Elser provided the final margin off Cam Babiak’s setup at the 7:22 mark of the second.

Neither team could light the lamp in the third as the Bobcats improved to 7-5 on the season and Brookings dropped to 6-5.

The Blizzard held a 32-29 advantage in shots as Ryan Ullan earned the win in goal for Bismarck with 31 saves. Zachary Borgiel suffered the loss after stopping 26 Bobcat shots.

The Blizzard get another chance against Bismarck tonight at LIC. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
