BISMARCK, N.D. – The Bobcats scored four consecutive goals to close out the game, including three in the third period, to complete a weekend sweep of the Blizzard with a 7-4 NAHL Central Division victory Saturday night at the VFW Sports Center.

BISMARCK, N.D. – The Bobcats scored four consecutive goals to close out the game, including three in the third period, to complete a weekend sweep of the Blizzard with a 7-4 NAHL Central Division victory Saturday night at the VFW Sports Center.

Zach Kennedy tied the score at 4-all with a goal off assists from Grant Johnson and Tanner Vescio with 4:20 remaining in the second period.

Tristan Ashbrook netted the game-winner with 3:29 remaining in the game as Kennedy and Johnson assisted.

Lukas Millen added a goal with 55 seconds to play – assisted by Cooper Haar – and Nick Alexander capped the scoring with a short-handed empty-netter with 14 seconds to go.

Brookings opened the scoring just 68 seconds into the game as Brandon Kruse lit the lamp. Cameron Teamor was credited with the assist.

Bismarck countered with three consecutive goals, beginning with Chase Hartje’s tally at the 13:14 mark of the first. Jiei Halliday and Alex Pollock assisted.

Michael Mahan scored two goals in an 18-second span – the first of which came on a power play – later in the period to put the Bobcats up 3-1. Halliday assisted on the latter, and Pollock and Matej Murin on the former.

The Blizzard countered with three straight goals in the second.

Brendan Stanko found the back of the net on assists from Roman Ahcan and Tim Faulkner with 17:31 to go in the period.

Faulker then scored on a power play with 13:03 left as Cade Borchardt and Nicholas Cardelli were credited with assists.

Kruse converted a penalty shot with 7:16 remaining to put Brookings on top by a 4-3 margin.

Severi Isokangas made 27 saves to earn the win in goal. Blizzard goalie Josh Boyko stopped 30 shots and allowed six goals in 59:05 of action.

The teams combined for 114 penalty minutes on 21 infractions.

Brookings returns to action with a game against the Wings on Friday at 7:15 p.m. at Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen.
