Blizzard beat Bismarck, 2-1

BROOKINGS – The Blizzard scored single goals in the first and second period and made them stand up in a 2-1 North American Hockey League win over Bismarck on Friday night at Larson Ice Center.

Doug Larson’s goal gave Brookings the lead with 9:17 to play in the first period as Brookings native Carter Krogman and Brendan Aird earned the assists.

Henry Enebak lit the lamp less than six minutes into the second period to push the Blizzard’s lead to 2-0. Ryan Dickinso and Chase Brand set up what proved to be the game winner.

The Bobcats cashed in on a power-play chance with 12:13 left in the game as Patrick O’Connor found the back of the net as Jared Resseguie and Cooper Haar picked up the helpers.

Benjamin Beck got the win in goal with 25 saves as Blizzard outshot Bismarck, 29-26.

The win moves the Blizzard into third place in the Central Division standing with 30 points, courtesy of a 14-12-1-1 mark. Bismarck drops to fifth with 28 points (13-13-2-0).
