BROOKINGS – The Blizzard closed their final home stand of the season with a sweep of Coulee Region after beating the Chill, 4-2, on Saturday night at Larson Ice Center.
Brookings improves to 23-28-2-5 with 53 points and finishes off its season against the MN Wilderness on Friday and Saturday at Northwoods Credit Union Arena.
Vince Marino’s goal 6 1/2 minutes into play gave the Blizzard the early lead against the Chill as Ryan Dickinson and Parker Revering earned the assists.
Coulee Region’s Nick Bowman netted the only goal of the second period to send the game into the final frame tied at 1-1.
Revering tallied an unassisted goal less than 6 minutes into the third before Tyler Hinterser found the back of the net with less than 6 to play as Haiden Karnick and Ben Perkins picked up the assists for a 3-1 Blizzard advantage.
Grant Reichenbacher’s unassisted goal got the Chill within a goal, but Connor Koviak provided for the final margin with an empty-net goal with 1:09 left as Revering earned his second helper of the night.
Brookings held a 38-32 edge in shots as Liam Murry stopped 30 Coulee Region shots for the win in net.
