Blizzard beat Minotauros 4-2

BROOKINGS – The Blizzard picked up their fifth win in six games, beating the Minot Minotauros 4-2 in an NAHL Central Division game Friday night at Larson Ice Center.

Ryan Green scored on an assist from Brock Draeger with 2:14 to go in the opening period.

Bud Winter lit the lamp late in the second period and again early in the third to push the margin to 3-0. David Israel and Tyler Hinterser assisted on Winter’s first tally, and Gabe Wahl and Hinterser on the second.

The Minotauros battled back as Brennan Couet scored on an assist from Justin Kelley with 14:01 remaining and Keenan Lund found the back of the net with 2:32 showing on the clock. Nick Strom and Lincoln Erne were credited with assists on Lund’s goal.

Hinterser netted an insurance goal with 1:32 to go, scoring on assists from Mark Leach and Winter.

George McBey made 22 saves to earn the win in goal. Minot’s Ben Garrity stopped 24 shots.

The Blizzard (8-28-2-1, 19 points) and Minotauros (21-17-1-0, 43 points) face off again tonight at 7:05.
