Blizzard complete sweep of Jets with 5-3 triumph

BROOKINGS – The Blizzard completed a weekend sweep of the Midwest Division-leading Janesville Jets on Saturday at Larson Ice Center, winning 5-3.

Brookings built a 3-0 lead at the 11:25 mark of the second period as Andriy Denyskin, Vince Marino and Griffen Sanom each lit the lamp. Doug Larson’s goal 21 seconds into the third made it 4-1.

The Jets scored pair of third-period goals to pull within 4-3, but Jimmy Elser’s empty-netter sealed the deal. 

Zachary Borgiel made 36 saves to earn the win in goal. The Blizzard outshot the Jets 39-35.

For the Jets (13-6-1-0, 27 points) Kip Hoffmann scored twice, while Jakov Novak added a goal and an assist.

Brookings (11-9-0-1, 23 points) takes on the Minotauros on Friday and Saturday at 7:35 p.m. in Minot, N.D.
