ABERDEEN – Derek Hammer had a pair of goals, including the game-winner on an assist from Parker Revering 4 minutes into overtime, and Doug Larson also scored twice as the Blizzard completed a weekend sweep of the Wings with a 4-3 victory during NAHL Central Division action Saturday night at Odde Ice Center.
Aberdeen outshot Brookings 46-19, but Blizzard goalie Benjamin Beck made 43 saves to help the visitors secure the win.
Larson scored on an assist from Oliver Turan 4 1/2 minutes into the game.
The Wings pulled even on Zach Noble’s goal a minute later. They moved ahead 3-1 as Andrew Walker and Nathan Burke (power play) scored 38 seconds apart early in the second period. Jack Kelly, Joe Strada, Ricky Carballo, Colton Fletcher and Dusan Kmec each picked up an assist.
Larson’s second goal – an unassisted, short-handed tally – came with 6:18 to go in the second.
Hammer found the back of the net with 17:04 remaining in regulation to knot the score at 3-all. Chase Brand was credited with the assist.
Daniel Pavlicko made 15 saves for Aberdeen (3-3-2-0, 8 points).
Division-leading Brookings (5-3-0-0, 10 points) plays host to Austin on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
