BROOKINGS – The Blizzard built a 2-0 lead after a period, lost it and then scored the only goal of the third period to pull out a 3-2 win over the Coulee Region Chill in a non-division game on Friday night at Larson Ice Center.

Brendan Aird and Josh Boyer scored less than 90 seconds apart in the first period as Brookings led 2-0 after the first 20 minutes. Haiden Karnick and Doug Larson set up the first goal while Parker Revering helped out on the second.

But Coulee Region came back with two goals in less than a 90-second span in the second period to send the game into the third tied at 2-2.

Max Sasson scored the game winner less than 5 minutes into the final period when he knocked in a rebound off a Doug Larson shot past the Chill’s Emil Zetterquist.

Coulee Region held a 31-29 edge in shots as Adam Brizgala came up with 29 saves to earn the win in net.

The teams square off again tonight at LIC with the puck dropping at 7:05.
