Blizzard shut out Bismarck, 2-0

BROOKINGS – The Blizzard gave their fans a win in their final home game of the season as they beat Bismarck, 2-0, on Saturday night at Larson Ice Center.

Gabe Wahl lit the lamp less than 5 minutes into the game as Tyler Hinterser and Cam Babiak picked up the assists as Brookings led 1-0 after one.

Luke Aquarro found the back of the net with 3:32 to play in the second quarter off setups by Sam Antenucci and Ryan Green for a 2-0 Blizzard lead through two.

Travis Allen stopped five Bobcat shots in the third period to finish off the shutout win in goal as he finished with 26 saves on the night.

Bismarck went 0-for-5 on power-play chances as the Blizzard came up empty on their three opportunities.

Brookings improved to 11-42-3-2 with 27 points while the Bobcats dropped to 33-20-3-2 with 71 points.

The Blizzard finish off their season at Minot, which also has 71 points courtesy of a 34-21-3-0 record. Game time is 8:05 p.m. on Friday and 7:35 p.m. on Saturday at Maysa Arena.
