Blizzard split with Minotauros

MINOT, N.D. – The Blizzard split a weekend NAHL set with the Minotauros, falling 4-2 Saturday after winning 3-1 Friday.

Brookings, which is still in sixth in the Central Division behind Minot (44 points) and Bismarck (45), plays host to Aberdeen on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.

Saturday

 Minot 4, Brookings 2

Ondrej’s second goal of the game put the Minotauros up 3-0 early in the third as the home team managed a split. Miroslav added a goal – his 23rd of the season – and Keenan Lund sealed the victory by lighting the lamp with 6:18 to go.

Brookings pulled within 3-2 after Tyler Hinterser – assisted by Gabriel Wahl – and Jimmy Elser found the back of the net midway through the third.

Samu Lonkila made 22 saves to earn the win in goal and Alex Adams had two assists. Brookings’ Liam Murray stopped 24 shots.

Friday

 Brookings 3, Minot 2

Haiden Karnick and Connor Koviak (empty-netter) both scored in the third period to lift the Blizzard.

Elser scored in the first.

Nolan Turi and Ryan Dickson both had two assists, while Max Sasson added one.  Adam Brizgala made 36 saves between the pipes in the victory.

For the Minotauros, Grant Loven scored a goal. Lonkila stopped 19 shots.
