Bobcat girls win state JV bowling tourney

SIOUX FALLS – The Brookings girls won the South Dakota High School Bowling Association JV Championships on Monday at Sport Bowl.

Kacee Rhody rolled a career-best 545 (203-173-169) series to earn captain honors on the all-tournament team.

The Bobcats posted a 1,401 pinfall in the three-game seeding round to earn the No. 1 seed.

They went 4-0 in the double-elimination Baker tournament to take the title.

Following a first-round bye, Brookings beat Yankton, Roosevelt and Lincoln Blue to reach the final, where it again defeated Roosevelt to seal the deal.

Catelyn Vernarsky had a 448 (136-163-149) series and Teagen Bremmon added a 408 (132-132-144) in qualifying. Megan Seeley was also a team member.

All four Bobcat participants are seventh-graders.
