Bobcat golf comes in 6th at ESD Invitational

PIERRE – The Brookings boys’ golf team finished in sixth at the Eastern South Dakota Conference Invitational on Saturday. 

The Bobcats shot a 23-over 311 as a team, which was the lowest score for the team in over a decade. The sixth place finish was the highest for the team this season.

Kade Brecher tied for seventh with a one-over 73. That was the highest finish for a Bobcat golfer this season. Egan Jensen tied for 19th with a five-over 77 and Jase Bauer tied for 25th with a seven-over 79. It was the first time this season that Brookings had three golfers shoot in the 70’s.

Tyson Lunn tied for 34th (82) and Austin Clark tied for 36th (83). Rhys Heiberger was the final golfer for Brookings and he came in 45th (87).

Watertown won the tournament with a one-under 287. Harrisburg shot an even par 288 and came in second. Pierre came in third (289) and Mitchell finished in fourth (305). Brandon Valley rounded out the top five (306).

Watertown’s Jake Olson came in first with a seven-under 65. Harrisburg’s Parker Schultz finished right behind Olson with a six-under 66. Pierre’s Luke Olson came in third (70) and Watertown’s Kaden Rylance and Brandon Valley’s Colby Meyer tied for fourth (71).

Brookings hosts a triangular on Thursday at the Brookings Country Club.
