Bobcat golf comes in 8th at Watertown

WATERTOWN – The Brookings boys’ golf team placed eighth in the Watertown Invitational on Tuesday.

The host Arrows won the event with a 11-over 299. Harrisburg came in second (311) and Pierre finished in third (321).

The Bobcats finished with a 345. Egan Jensen was the top finisher for Brookings and he tied for 22nd with an 83. Kade Brecher tied for 26th (85) and Jack Even tied for 39th (88).

Dylan VandeKop tied for 41st (89) and Cale Jones came in 54th (93). Nathan Brecher rounded things out for the Bobcats with a 99 and tied for 62nd.

Sioux Valley finished in 10th with a 349. Kyle Bezdichek was the top finisher for the Cossacks and he tied for 26th with an 85. Jace Christensen tied for 30th (86) and Kyan Overbo tied for 35th (87). Tate Steffensen tied for 48th (91) and Jameson Degen tied for 55th (94). 

Flandreau came in 13th with a 425. Kade Burshiem came in 60th (97) and Alfie Henderson finished in 66th (101). Brant LeBrun tied for 74th (113) and Cade LeBrun was not far behind finishing in 76th (114). 

Watertown had the top-two individual finishers. Kayden Rylance was the winner with a five-under 67. Jake Olson shot an even 72. Harrisburg’s Hayden Scott and Aberdeen Roncalli’s Mason Carrels tied for third with a 74.

The Bobcats play in the Eastern South Dakota Conference on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cattail Crossing Golf Course in Watertown. Up next, the Cossacks and Fliers will travel to Madison on Sept. 27 for the Region 1A Tournament.
