Bobcats blank Blizzard

BISMARCK – The Bobcats scored three goals in the first period on the way to a 9-0 Central Division rout of the Blizzard on Friday night at the VFW Sports Center.

Mitchell Walinski, Andy Stoneman and Christian Brune each scored two goals while Alex Pollock, Kirklan Irey and Bartek Bison added one apiece as Bismarck held a 45-29 edge in shots and converted 1-of-4 penalty-play opportunities.

McLean Dorr had 26 saves on 32 shots over 40 minutes and 33 seconds in the net while Jack Caruso stopped 10 of the 13 shots he faced in the final 19:27.

Brookings falls to 3-16-1-1 with eight points as the Blizzard sit in sixth place in the Central.

The Bobcats improved to 12-7-1-0 with 25 points and are fourth in the standings.

The two teams square off again tonight in Bismarck with the puck dropping at 7:15.
