Bobcats close season at State AAU Tourney

RAPID CITY – Out of 17 wrestlers that competed in the 2017 State AAU Wrestling Tournament over the weekend, Brookings had 11 wrestlers place, including one that brought home a state title.

Aidan Aure won the championship in the Midget Division at 56 pounds while Darrion Dubro placed second in that division at 123.

In the Schoolboy Division, Kellan Aure finished third at 75 pounds; Nolan Archer was fourth at 100; and Jaxon Bowes placed fifth at 105.

Also bringing home a fourth-place finish were Bailey TeKrony in the 53-pound weight class in the Girls’ Midget Division and Noah Hansen in the Bantam Division at 40 pounds.

A pair of fifth-place finishes went to Tyson Antonen at 82 pounds in the Midget Division and Nolan Miles in the Novice Division at 72 pounds.

Briggs Archer placed sixth in the Bantam 40-pound weight class, while Dylan Reynolds finished seventh at 96 pounds in the Midget Division.

Seven other wrestlers competed at the state meet but did not place.

In the Bantam Division, Lincoln Helmbolt wrestled at 44 pounds while Drew Brinkman competed in the 70-pound weight class.

In the Novice Division, Tate Helmbolt wrestled at 60 pounds; Dillen Sheeley competed at 87 pounds; Joey Fitzpatrick wrestled at 93 pounds, in addition to Carter Wright, who competed in the 140-pound weight class in the Schoolboy Division.
