Bobcats crush Spartans, improve to 8-0

SPEARFISH – The Bobcats hammered Spearfish 63-0 Friday night to move to 8-0.

“Our value this week was consistency,” said BHS coach Brady Clark. “Can we play four quarters at a high level consistently and I felt that we did that in all phases of the game.

“It was great to get everyone in-game experience in all areas of the game.”

Brookings logged 514 yards on 41 rushes – 12.5 average – and threw the ball twice.

Josh Buri scored on three of his four rushing attempts, compiling 122 yards.Keegan Fields added 131 yards on eight touches with a TD.

Josh Devine scored twice, with Justin Cofell (67 yards), Tyson Brandt and Israel Caldron adding a touchdown apiece. The score was 21-0 after a quarter and 50-0 at halftime.

Brookings’ victory combined with Yankton’s 42-14 defeat of Douglas sets up a matchup of undefeateds Thursday as the Bobcats play host to the Bucks at 7 p.m. to close out the regular season.
