Bobcats down Eagles

BROOKINGS – The Bobcats stumbled but recovered nicely in beating Aberdeen Central in four sets on Thursday night at the BHS Auxiliary Gymnasium.

The ‘Cats won the first set, 25-19; dropped the second, 25-18, dominated the third, 25-12; and then closed out the match with a 26-24 win in Set 4.

Kailee Bartels and Johanna Miller led a balanced Brookings attack with 12 kills apiece as Bartels added a solo block and three block assists. Kylie Tucker finished with nine kills, one solo and three block assists to go along with 12 digs.

Michaela Jewett tallied 44 set assists, nine kills, a pair of block assists and 21 digs; Miranda Ysbrand also collected 21 digs; and Molly Steffensen served up four aces as the Bobcats improved to 8-11.

Cassidy Gough had a match-high 15 kills and added 18 digs to lead the Golden Eagles, who dropped to 7-9 on the season. Grace Myhre notched 36 set assists and a pair of aces as Brooklyn Hofer had four block assists and Brooklyn Kusler picked up 18 digs, as well.

The Bobcats visit Rapid City this weekend – taking on Sturgis, Douglas and Central on Friday before facing Stevens and Spearfish on Saturday.
