Bobcats go 1-3 at Huron Invitational

HURON – The Bobcat volleyball team went 1-3 at the Huron Invitational to open the season on Saturday at Huron Arena.

Brookings plays host to Huron on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

 Sioux Falls O’Gorman 2, Brookings 1

The Lady Knights were 22-25, 25-19, 25-22 victors.

Kailee Bartels had nine kills, two service aces and 1 1/2 blocks.

Michaela Jewett totaled eight kills, 1 1/2 blocks (one solo), an ace, 22 set assists and nine digs.

Kylie Tucker contributed seven kills and 1 1/2 blocks. Miranda Ysbrand paced the defense with 20 digs and Johanna Miller tallied 1 1/2 blocks.  Regan Weisbeck netted a pair of aces.

 Mitchell 2, Brookings 0

The Kernels won 25-22, 25-13.

Tucker had five kills, Bartels three, and Clarissa Miller and Johanna Miller two apiece. Johanna Miller notched two solo blocks and Clarissa Miller had 1 1/2 blocks (one solo).

Jewett dished out 13 set assists and came up with three digs. Weisbeck and Ashlyn Borah both tallied four digs, with Borah also netting an ace.

 Brookings 2, Douglas 0

The Bobcats picked up their first win of the season, beating the Patriots 25-10, 25-10.

Tucker led the way with eight kills and 1 1/2 blocks (one solo).

Sydney Schneider added six kills, Johanna Miller five and Clarissa Miller three. Kennedy Schafer netted four of the team’s nine aces, with Bartels and Jewett both adding two.

Jewett also had 24 set assists and seven digs. Ysbrand notched six digs.

 Sioux Falls Christian 2, Brookings 0

The Chargers won 25-21, 25-15.

Tucker finished with five kills and Bartels contributed four.

Jewett totaled 17 set assists, 1 1/2 blocks (one solo) and five digs. Ysbrand had nine digs.
