Bobcats go 2-0 against Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Yankton

BROOKINGS – The Bobcats swept a home triangular Monday, beating Yankton 46-24 and Sioux Falls Roosevelt 46-28 at BHS Auxiliary Gymnasium

Brookings (2-4, 1-3) competes in the Kingsbury County Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 25, in Arlington.

The Bobcats overcame an 18-4 deficit to pick up their first dual victory of the season.

Nolan Miles opened with a 19-7 major decision over Dylan Sloan in the 106-pound bout.

Yankton took the next four matches to move ahead 18-4.

Tyson Brandt (138 pounds) and Israel Caldron (145) followed with decisions – the former dropped Kyler Lillie 6-0 and the latter posted a 9-4 win over Raynor Roig.

Koby Bartels pinned Jackson Conway in 37 seconds at 152.

Jaxon Bowes won via forfeit at 160 to give the Bobcats a 22-18 lead.

Brookings used a trio of pins to seal the deal after that.

Dillen Sheely (170) stuck Dominick Kabella in 2:53.

Luke Rasmussen (182) made quick work of Caleb Kisch, finishing things off in 58 seconds.

James Olson (195) dropped Kyle Lucht in 1:13.

That made the dual score 40-18.

Daniel Klug later had a forfeit win the 285-pound weightclass.

Nolan Miles pinned Ayden Dooley in 3:50 to get it going at 106 pounds.

Spencer Christie followed with a 7-1 decision over Benjamin Neilan in the 113-pound matchup.

Elias McElroy (120 pounds) was a victor via forfeit to push the dual score to 15-0.

Three bouts later, Tyson Brandt picked up an 11-2 major decision against Dane Mediger.

Koby Bartels’ 7-6 decision over Dan Momotic at 145 made it 22-10.

At 160, Jaxon Bowes pinned Cruiz Vaughn in 1:26.

Dillen Sheely (170), Luke Rasmussen (182) and James Olson (195) picked up forfeit victories to make it 46-16 and wrap up the dual victory.
