RAPID CITY – The Bobcat baseball team posted an undefeated weekend out west, outscoring its four opponents a combined 67-14.
Brookings (7-1) returns to action at Sioux Falls Lincoln on Tuesday.
Sunday
• Brookings 20, Sturgis 8
Trailing 8-7, Brookings scored six runs in the sixth inning and seven in the seventh.
The Scoopers were up 5-0 after one and 8-4 after three. The Bobcats scored three times in the fourth.
Jake Ammann homered, doubled, singled and drove in five runs.
Cole Mahlum was 4-for-4 with a triple, a double, four runs scored and three RBIs.
Mason Bebensee (three RBIs, double), Kyle Bauer (three RBIs, double), Max Kjelden (two RBIs, double), Charlie Holm (RBI) and Lincoln Hardin (double) added a pair of hits apiece. Jamison Honkomp drove in a pair.
Bebensee earned the win after allowing three runs – one earned – on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk over the final six frames.
• Brookings 14, Rapid City Stevens 4 (6 inn.)
The Bobcats built a 7-0 lead after three innings and put the game away with a five-run sixth.
Cole Mahlum drove in four runs.
Charlie Holm (two doubles), Henry Hammrich (double), Jake Ammann (double) and Jamison Honkomp (double) each notched a pair of RBIs.
Lincoln Hardin picked up the victory after allowing three runs – none earned – on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks in four innings.
Saturday
• Brookings 14, Rapid City Central 2
The Bobcats used a trio of four-run innings to beat the Cobblers. The score was 6-2 heading to the sixth.
Charlie Holm was 4-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.
Cole Mahlum went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs.
Henry Hammrich drove in a pair. Payton Theodosopoulos had two hits, including a double. Jackson Krogman scored three times. Jake Ammann was 2-for-4.
Josh Devine picked up the win on the mound after allowing two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and three walks over five innings.
• Brookings 19, Douglas 0 (3 inn.)
The Bobcats scored 15 runs in the first inning.
They totaled 10 hits, while the Patriots had seven errors.
Payton Theodosopoulos tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out five and walking a pair.
Henry Hammrich tripled, doubled and totaled four RBIs.
Lincoln Hardin (double, single), Max Kjelden (triple) and Kyle Bauer (single) each drove in three. Cole Mahlum had a triple, a single and two RBIs.
Hammrich, Bauer, Charlie Holm (double, single) and Jamison Honkomp each scored three times.
