ABERDEEN – Junior Zokou netted a hat trick as the Bobcats and Golden Eagles played to a 3-3 draw during Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ soccer action Tuesday evening.
It marked Brookings’ first draw of the season, as its record is now 5-3-1 (5-0-1 ESD).
Aberdeen Central scored a pair of first-half goals to grab a 2-0 lead, as Jalani Peters converted on an assist from Eh Gawku Poe in the fourth minute and Jake Hilsendeger found the back of the net on a pass from Matt Maag in the 18th minute.
The Bobcats rallied after half. Zokou had goals in the 46th and 48th minutes to knot the score at 2-all.
Hilsendeger’s second goal put the Golden Eagles ahead 3-2 in the 50th minute. Avery Dean was credited with the assist.
Zokou completed the hat trick and again pulled Brookings even with a goal in the 65th minute.
Bobcat goalkeepers Jake Weber and Zander Larson combined for 10 saves. The Golden Eagles’ Reece Meister stopped four shots.
Brookings wraps up the regular season with three home matches. The Bobcats take on Sioux Falls O’Gorman on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Aberdeen Central (5-3-2, 3-1-2) heads to Harrisburg on Saturday, Sept. 22.
