BROOKINGS – The Watertown girls and Sergeant Bluff-Luton (Iowa) boys swept the team titles at the Ruth Marske Invitational on Saturday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
The Arrows totaled 138 team points, as Sioux City East (Iowa) (98) was second, Pierre (63) third and Bishop Heelan (Sioux City, Iowa) (59) fourth. Brookings was fifth at 51.5.
For the boys, the Warriors racked up 151.5 points. Watertown (122), Sioux City East (66), Pierre (63.5) and Sioux City North (Iowa) (62) rounded out the top five. The Bobcats had 28 points in eighth.
Sioux City East’s Lauren Van Dyke and Watertown’s Pierre Lear were named outstanding athletes.
The ESD Indoor is Thursday at 1 p.m. at the SJAC.
Girls
Brookings’ Kayla Shoup won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5 minutes, 52.5 seconds. Teammate Josie Bono wasn’t far behind, taking second with a 5:52.66 clocking.
Emily Rykstrom placed fourth in the 100 (13.31) and fifth in the 200 (27.3).
Amanda Flores-Schulte added a fourth-place showing in the shot put with a mark of 34 feet, 7 inches. Regan Weisbeck matched that finish in the pole vault, clearing 8-6.
Clarissa Miller came in in fifth in the long jump (15-2).
Cherish Stern took sixth in the 400 (1:05.61); Brooke Wika ended up seventh in the 800 (2:41.12); and Kylie Tucker placed eighth in the high jump (4-8).
The Bobcats took fifth in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:36.2.
Van Dyke won the 800 (2:19.94) and was a member of the victorious 1,600-meter relay team (4:16.78).
Boys
Sam Lehman paced the Bobcats with a second-place showing in the pole vault. He cleared 11 feet.
Isaac Conrad posted a time of 2:06.73 in the 800 to place fourth. Charlie Wang ended up fourth in the 3,200 in 10:27.12.
Dillon Jensen’s heave of 45-5 landed him in fifth in the shot put. Jordan Crawford finished sixth in the long jump (18-6) and Seth Swedlund was seventh in the high jump (5-8).
Brookings placed eighth in the 400-meter relay with a 47.77 clocking.
Lear won the 110-meter hurdles (15.48), 300-meter hurdles (41.42) and high jump (6-4).
