SIOUX FALLS – The Bobcats pounded out 16 hits in a 15-5 win over Washington during high school baseball action Tuesday evening at Harmodon Park.
Brookings improved to 2-3 with its second consecutive victory.
Rhett Zelinsky led the charge, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Justin Devine added three hits and one RBI.
Tyler Kreutner doubled and singled while driving in three runs and scoring three times.
Cole Mahlum doubled, singled and scored three runs. Parker Rykhus (RBI) and Daniel Messerli contributed two hits apiece, while Brady Ammann drove in a pair of runs.
Caden Wright pitched 4 2/3 innings to earn the win, giving up five runs on five hits and six walks with four strikeouts. Jackson Krogman pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, surrendering two hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
Brookings chased Warrior starter Tanner Olmstead after just a third of an inning.
The Bobcats put up a 5-spot in the first and scored in every inning. Leading 8-3, they added three runs in the fifth and two in both the sixth and seventh to pull away.
Olmstead (RBI) and Nate Smith both finished 2-of-3 for Washington.
