Ryan Meyer’s two-RBI double highlighted the Lynx’s three-run seventh inning, as the visitors prevailed in the opener.

Isaac Buteyn, who went 2-for-3, singled to lead off the top of the seventh and moved to second on Tyler Hamsa’s sacrifice bunt. Zach Felderman reached on an error to set up Meyer, whose big hit gave Brandon Valley a 4-2 lead. Meyer later scored on a passed ball to make it 5-2.

• Brookings 2, Brandon Valley 0

Schoon drew a walk to lead off the fourth and advanced to second on Devine’s sacrifice bunt. A wild pitch gave the sophomore third base before he scored on Brandin Heesch’s single to left center.

Lerdal led off the fifth with a double; moved to third on a wild pitch; and scored on Meyer’s sacrifice flyout to right field to make it 2-0.

And that was enough for Miley as he gave up a leadoff double in the fourth before striking out two straight batters, and then, induced a flyout to first base to get out of the frame.

In the sixth, a leadoff walk; sacrifice bunt and flyout put a runner on third base, but Miley got out of that jam with a flyball out to left field.

Dylan Kirkeby suffered the loss as he gave up one earned run on four hits and five walks with five strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings of work. Zimmer-man allowed one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts as he threw the final 2 1/3 for the Lynx.
