Bobcats take 2nd at Kernel Tri

MITCHELL – The Kernels prevailed in a home gymnastics triangular on Thursday with a 147.05, while Brookings was second at 139.2.

Madison (134.95) ended up third.

Mitchell swept the top three spots in the all-around, led by Maria Krall’s 36.95. Kaylee Bauder (36.45) was second and Masy Mock (35.85) third.

Lily Siemonsma paced the Bobcats with a 35.35, putting her in fourth place. Cydne Munson (34.25) was sixth, Sierra Stevens (34.05) seventh and Tayla Dobrenski (33.45) 10th.

Siemonsma placed fourth on the floor (9.3), sixth on the bars (8.6), seventh on the beam (8.75) and tied for 11th on the vault (8.7).

Rachel Gannon led Brookings in both events in which she competed, taking third on the vault (9.15) and sixth on the beam (9.0).

Krall was tops on the beam (9.55) and floor (9.55), while teammate Alyssa Hughes was first on the bars (9.1).

The Kernels’ Emily Moody and the Lady Bulldogs’ Kylie Krusemark tied for first on the vault at 9.2.

The Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet is Saturday, Feb. 2, at noon at Bob Jostad Gymnasium in Brookings.
