Bobcats take 4th, 6th at ESD; Conrad finishes in top-5

ABERDEEN – The Bobcat girls took fourth and the boys were sixth in the Eastern South Dakota Conference Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Lee Park.

Brookings has a triangular versus Harrisburg and Yankton on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Pasley Park in Sioux Falls.


Brandon Valley took the title with 22 team points, as Aberdeen Central (55) was second and Yankton (69) third.

Brookings totaled 119 points in fourth.

The Lynx’s Mia Wentzy was medalist in the 5K with a time of 18 minutes, 29.02 seconds. Teammate Addison Scholten (19:04.74) was runner-up.

Ashton Scott paced the ‘Cats with a time of 20:47.79, as she placed 18th.

Lily Murray (20:55.29) was 21st, Jenna York (20:56.33) 22nd, Kayla Shoup (21:07.12) 27th and Jaixai Reineke (21:19.32) 31st to complete the team tally.

Also for BHS, Madison Kepner (23:51.32) and Sofia Dvergsten (23:52.38) crossed in 47th and 48th, respectively.


Brookings’ Sam Conrad placed fourth with a 16:42.91 clocking in the 5K.

BV topped the team standings with 57 points, edging Harrisburg (60) and Aberdeen Central (63).

The Bobcats totaled 146 points in sixth.

The Lynx’s Britton Elkin was the individual winner, crossing in 15:54.79. The Golden Eagles’ Josh Martin (16:09.27) finished second.

Brookings’ Nick Diersen (17:52.85) was 21st. Kobe Bowser (18:39.35) ended up 39th, Igen Nyawanda (18:42.11) 40th and Talon Everding (18:57.58) 42nd to round out the team score.

Also for BHS, Jacob York (19:03.44) finished 44th and Quentin Eck (19:26.66) was 49th.
