YANKTON – Brookings went 2-0 at the Yankton Triangular on Monday, drilling the host Bucks 69-8 in an Eastern South Dakota Conference dual and then edging Sioux Falls Roosevelt 42-36.

Bobcats take down Yankton, S.F. Roosevelt

YANKTON – Brookings went 2-0 at the Yankton Triangular on Monday, drilling the host Bucks 69-8 in an Eastern South Dakota Conference dual and then edging Sioux Falls Roosevelt 42-36. The Bobcats (5-2, 2-2) play host to Huron on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Bobcats won 12 of the 14 matches, including seven by fall, three via forfeit and one by injury default.

Jason Nixon (113) and Carson Klinkhammer (120) both had pins, Sam Lehman (126) won by injury default and Caden McKeown added a pin to put Brookings ahead 24-5 in the dual.

Jacob Montis (138) won by forfeit. Justin Devine followed with a 7-1 decision over Ben Tellus at 145 pounds.

Logan Bowes (152), Tate Coon (160) and Jacob Schoon (170) each tallied victories via falls. The Bucks were also open at 182 and 285, as Logan Hadley and Eddie Miller were credited with wins. Cole Eidem (195) added a pin in between.

Brookings 42, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 36

The Bobcats won four consecutive bouts by fall and then used a forfeit at 285 pounds to seal the deal.

Trailing 36-12, Schoon got the comeback going by putting Lucas Phillips on his back in 22 seconds at 170 pounds.

Hadley followed with a 27- second pin versus Zane Wilson at 182.

Eidem (195) came through with a second-period pin against Sam Konzem.

Gus Miller (220) won by fall in the second period against Caleb Dagel to tie things up at 36-all.

Eddie Miller won by forfeit at 285 to end it.

The Rough Riders built a 9-0 lead, before Klinkhammer won by fall at 120 and Lehman was victorious following a forfeit at 126 to put the Bobcats ahead 12-9.

Roosevelt won the next five matches – using three pins, a decision and a forfeit (at 145) – to build the 36-12 advantage.
