Bobcats take two from Arrows

BROOKINGS – The Bobcats swept Watertown in a softball doubleheader Thursday, winning 10-2 and 16-9.

Brookings plays host to Lennox at 12:30 p.m. and Vermillion at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

• Brookings 10, Watertown 2

Jessa Rindels pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and a walk, and the Bobcat offense provided plenty of runs.

Brookings totaled 22 hits.

Riley Weisbeck had three hits, including a home run, to go with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored.

Sydney Schneider went 3-for-3.

Sydney Grendler tallied two hits, including a homer, and three RBIs.

Shaylea Peterson (two RBIs), Skylar Hinricher (one RBI), Landry Wilson and Jenna Eischens each contributed two hits. Jaelynn Gaspar had a pair of RBIs.

• Brookings 16, Watertown 9

The Bobcats racked up 20 hits.

They scored three runs in the first inning, five in the second, one in the third and fifth, and six in the sixth.

Weisbeck led the way with three hits, including two doubles. She drove in four runs and scored three times.

Rindels, who homered, Sierra Stevens, who tripled, and Hinricher notched three hits apiece.

Janine Warne totaled two hits and three runs. Schneider contributed a pair of hits and two RBIs. Grendler drove in two runs.

Annika Hawks earned the pitching win, giving up nine hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
