BRANDON – The Bobcats fell 39-34 to host Brandon Valley but rebounded with a 40-36 defeat of Harrisburg during an Eastern South Dakota Conference wrestling triangular Tuesday.

The Region 1A Tournament is Saturday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. in Dell Rapids.

Sam Krohnke earned a 3-1 decision over Tucker Christie in the 285-pound bout to lift the Lynx over the Bobcats in the dual.

Brookings was open at 106 and Gavin Klinkhammer won by forfeit at 113.

The Bobcats won the next two bouts as Connor Klinkhammer (120) stuck Caleb Klatt in 3:58 and Nolan Archer (126) defeated Carson Askdal 4-1 to make it 15-6.

The Lynx scored the next 24 points.

Kobi Terpstra (132) pinned Koby Bartels in 1:38 and Isaac Klinkhammer (138) dropped Jaxon Bowes in 1:08. Brookings was open at 145 and 152, as Brandon Valley opened up a 30-15 lead in the dual.

The Bobcats countered with three consecutive bonus-point victories.

Logan Bowes posted a 17-1 technical fall in 5:04 versus Adrian Bain at 160.

At 170, Luke Rasmussen picked up a 13-4 major decision against Jorey Sorenson.

Jacob Schoon’s 11-3 major decision over Damion Schunke in the 182-pound match pulled Brookings within 30-28.

Schoon improved to 32-0 on the season while picking up his 201st career victory.

The Bobcats were open at 195.

Gus Miller put Jordan Huser on his back in 3:29 at 220, leaving the dual score at 36-34 in favor of the home team.

Miller and Christie posted back-to-back pins to close out the dual and seal the victory.

At 220, Miller built a 7-0 lead before sticking Ayden Vioux late in the second period to cut the deficit to 36-34.

Christie was up next and dominated Austin Abrahamson throughout. He was ahead 8-0 after a period and added a takedown in the second before winning by fall in 3:07.

Brookings was open at 106 but then won three bouts in a row.

Gavin Klinkhammer (113) blanked Soren Aadlan 6-0. Connor Klinkhammer (120) put Jagger Gribble on his back in 1:29 and Archer (126) pinned Jadyn Schilling in 51 seconds to make the dual score 15-6.

The Tigers’ Max Johnson (132) pinned Koby Bartels in 4:37.

The Bobcats’ Jaxon Bowes earned a 9-1 major decision over Ryan Hirschkorn, making it 19-12.

Brookings was open at 145 and 152 as Harrisburg moved ahead 24-19.

Logan Bowes used a third-period takedown to beat Mason Schoenhard 4-2 in the 160-pound matchup.

Brookings was open at 170 and 195 and, in between, Schoon (182) won by forfeit. That left the dual score at 36-28 in favor of the Tigers.
