Bobcats win all 12 contested matches versus Trojans, Bulldogs

BROOKINGS – The Bobcats won all 12 contested matches, including 10 by fall, but dropped a pair of 42-39 duals to West Central and Madison in home-opening wrestling action Monday evening at the BHS Auxiliary Gymnasium.

“Yeah we wrestled really well, all because of coach (Ken) Vigdal, of course,” BHS coach Scott Miller said. “This weekend, we wrestled really well. We were ready to wrestle (Monday), but we lost a kid today because of the flu and have a couple other kids that are still coming back from injuries from football – a concussion and a shoulder, things like that. If we get a couple more kids back in the lineup, then we win both those duals.”

Jason Nixon, Nolan Archer, Logan Bowes and Tucker Christie each went 2-0 with a pair of pins.

Jaxon Bowes earned two decisions.

Jacob Schoon, the defending Class A state champion at 170 pounds, and Gus Miller both ended up with a pin and a win via forfeit.

Brookings had seven open weight classes.
