Bobcats win three events at season-opening Huron Invitational

HURON – The Bobcat track and field team opened the season at the Huron Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Brookings is host to Watertown in a dual Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Girls

Amari Ward won the 100-meter dash in 12.7 seconds and Tayla Dobrenski placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a 15.9 clocking.

Allie Clark ended up second in both the 300 hurdles (49.57) and 400 dash (1:06.48).

Kat Charging was second in the discus with a mark of 107 feet, 3 inches and third in the shot put at 33-10.

Adding runner-up finishes were Ashton Scott in the 3,200 (12:59.23), Rachel Gannon in the triple jump (33-5 1/2) and Haley Sampson in the shot put (35-9 1/2).

Taking third were Cherish Stern in the 400 (1:07.49), Jenna York in the 3,200 (13:02.5), Erin Hulberg in the pole vault (9-6), Grace Kuchlong in the triple jump (33-3) and Gracie Adamson in the discus (106-5).

The ‘Cats were second in the 4x200-meter relay in 1:55.69.

Boys

Noah Bayer crossed in second in the 100-meter dash in 10.89 seconds and Parker Theobald matched that finish in the discus with a throw of 147 feet, 9 inches.

Talon Everding placed third in the 800 in 2:12.74.

Brookings won the 4x100 in 44.45 and was second in the 4x200 in 1:36.2.
