SIOUX FALLS – The Bobcats were shut out at the Class AA State Girls’ Tennis Tournament, which began Thursday.

Skylor Ness fell 10-2 to Sioux Falls Washington’s Katelyn Nesheim in the first round and 10-1 to St. Thomas More’s 10-1 Ainsleigh Scott in the consolation quarterfinals of Flight 1 singles.

In Flight 2, O’Gorman’s Rima Jamous posted a 10-0 victory and Aberdeen Central’s Mirra Frohli was an 8-0 victor over Lynn Foster.

Tristina Ting dropped a 10-2 match to Rapid City Stevens’ Anna Mueller and an 8-2 decision to Brandon Valley’s Michaela Jerke at Flight 3.

At Flight 4, Paige Foster lost by 10-2 (AC’s Emily Ringgenberg) and 8-2 (Watertown’s Sadie Moran) margins.

The Arrows’ Josie Heyn beat Ainsley Shelsta 10-2 in Flight 5. Shelsta then fell 8-1 to the Raiders’ Abby Sherrill.

Isha Hooda lost 10-1 to Stevens’ Macy Lundstrom and 8-0 to the Lynx’s Tashlynne Badger in Flight 6 action.

In doubles, Ness and Lynn Foster fell 10-1 to the Lady Knights’ Sage Barnard and Jamous in the first round and 8-1 to the Golden Eagles’ Olivia Goetz and Frohling in the consolation quarters in Flight 1.

At Flight 2, Ting and Paige Foster lost 10-0 to AC’s Jennifer Appl and Megan Thone and 8-0 to Stevens’ Abbey Dehler and Emma Thurness.

Shelsta and Hooda fell 10-0 to the Cavaliers’ Megan Achbach and Katelyn Denholm and 8-1 to OG’s Grace Abdallah and Sydney Breit in Flight 3

The matches were played indoors at Huether Family Match Pointe, Great Life at Woodlake and the Country Club of Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls Lincoln tops the team standings with 282.5 team points and Brandon Valley is second at 272.5. Watertown (244), STM (214) and OG (204) round out the top five.

The tourney concludes today.

This is the first season of two classes of tennis in South Dakota.

Mitchell (492.5) edged Yankton (484.5) for the Class A crown on Monday and Tuesday.
