Bombers Black go 2-0

RENNER – The Bombers Black went 2-0 in pool play at the Renner Tournament on Saturday, beating Sioux Falls West 9-1 in six innings and Sioux Falls East 12-3 in five innings.

The remainder of the tournament was canceled due to the weather.

The Bombers Black (20-4) play host to Watertown in a doubleheader today at 4 p.m.

Lincoln Hardin struck out 11 batters in a complete-game performance as the Bombers Black rolled to the win.

Tied at 1-1, Brookings put up three runs in the third, two in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

Hardin allowed one run – unearned – on just three hits. He did not issue a walk.

Trey Svennes went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Kaden Jewett finished 2-for-3 and scored three times. Lincoln Hardin drove in a pair of runs and Ashton Witte added one RBI.

The Bombers Black scored the game’s first 12 runs, including four in the third inning and five in the fifth.

Trey Svennes led Brookings’ 11-hit attack with a 3-for-3 performance. He doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Ethan Molengraf was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Ashton Witte also went 2-for-3, driving in two runs.

Lincoln Hardin, who doubled, Isaac Norgaard and Kaden Jewett added an RBI apiece.

Jewett gave up three runs on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks in five innings to earn the win on the mound.
