PIERRE – The Bombers Black made it two in a row at the Region Tournament with a victory over Pierre on Wednesday.

Brookings scored two runs in the sixth inning and made them stand up for a 2-1 win over the host team.

Jackson Krogman led off the sixth with a single; stole second; moved to third on Cole Mahlum’s base hit; and then scored on Max Kjelden’s sacrifice fly to left.

Mahlum stole second while Kjelden was at bat, but couldn’t advance on the sac fly.

Jamison Honkomp drew a walk, and then, Max Struck singled to load the bases.

Mahlum was forced out at home on a fielder’s choice before Honkomp scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.

Pierre came back to score a run in the bottom of the seventh, but left the bases loaded as the Bombers escaped with the 2-1 victory.

Kyle Bauer earned the win on the mound as the lanky right-hander scattered three hits over six innings – striking out two, while walking one Pierre batter.

Mahlum was charged with the run as he walked two in the seventh.

Mason Bebensee earned the save as he gave up one hit and walked one before getting the final two outs.
