WATERTOWN – The Bombers Black went 3-1 in the 14U division of the Coke Tournament over the weekend at Watertown Stadium.
They beat Aberdeen 4-3 and Groton 14-5 on Sunday. On Saturday, Brookings topped the Watertown Black Sox 5-4 but fell 11-0 to Sioux Falls East.
All the games were six innings.
The Bombers Black (4-2) play a doubleheader at Sioux Falls East on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

The Bombers Black built a 3-1 lead after an inning and held off the Smittys to post the victory.
Parker Winghart recorded an RBI double and Zach Struck had a two-run single in the opening frame. Justin Cofell added an RBI single in the second to make it 4-2.
Matt Nordmeyer had the team’s other hit.
Winghart earned the win after allowing three runs – one earned – on five hits with four strikeouts in four innings. Trenton Pederson pitched two scoreless innings to notch the save, giving up two hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
Aberdeen’s Jaiden Smith was 2-for-3.

The Bombers Black broke things open with nine runs in the top of the fifth. They piled up 12 hits and drew 11 free passes, including nine walks.
Isaac Schulte finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Nathan Lease totaled four RBIs – three of which came on his fourth-inning double that made it 5-3. Winghart added a two-run double and finished with three RBIs.
Cofell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Nordmeyer singled and scored three times.
Struck, Carter Wright and Jaxton Eck each contributed a hit and an RBI. Tyson Brandt notched the team’s other hit.
Nordmeyer picked up the pitching win, surrendering five runs – none earned – on three hits and a walk in five innings. Struck tossed a 1-2-3 sixth, striking out one.

The Bombers Black scored in each of the first four innings to grab a 5-0 lead and then held off the Black Sox, who put up a three-spot in the fifth and added one run in the sixth.
Lease (RBI) and Brandt (two runs) were both 2-for-3.
Cofell added a hit and an RBI. Eck drove in a run and Winghart added a hit and two runs. Pederson scored.
Cofell threw 4 2/3 innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Nordmeyer worked the next two-thirds of an inning, giving up two runs on four hits. Winghart recorded the final two outs to tally the save. He struck out one batter and walked another.
Watertown leadoff hitter Jack Heesch was 3-for-3.

Sioux Falls East scored in five different innings and Gage Sharping tossed a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts. Dylan Rippentrop was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Tristan Fitzsimmons also had three RBIs, two of which came on a double.
Brandt and Lease singled for the Bombers Black.
Brandt took the loss after giving up six runs – five earned – on seven hits and four walks in four innings. Eck allowed five runs – four earned – on three hits and seven walks with one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings. Schulte recorded the final two outs, striking out one batter and walking one.
