BROOKINGS – The Bombers Black split a doubleheader with Mitchell Gold on Friday evening at Mickelson Field, bouncing back from an 11-10 loss with an 11-5, three-inning victory in the nightcap.
Brookings (10-4) heads to Huron for a doubleheader Monday at 5 p.m.
Game 1
• Mitchell 11, Brookings 10
Mitchell scored three runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to build a 9-2 lead and then held off the Bombers Black.
Brookings put up six runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull within 9-8. Both teams scored twice in the seventh.
The Bombers Black’s Trey Svennes went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Talon Richter drove in three runs. Caden Krogman had two hits, two runs and an RBI.
Payton Theodosopoulos tallied two RBIs and scored twice. Josh Devine also scored a pair of runs. Sam Hardin was 1-for-1 with three walks.

Game 2
• Brookings 11, Mitchell 5 (3 inn.)
Jake Ammann hit a three-run homer, and Theodosopoulos and Isaac Norgaard added solo home runs as the Bombers Black racked up 10 hits – five of which went for extra bases – in the three-inning contest.
Ammann also doubled and totaled four RBIs.
Norgaard and Kaden Jewett contributed two hits apiece. Devine, who doubled, and Krogman both added a hit and an RBI. Sam Hardin and Svennes each drove in a run.
Norgaard, Ethan Molengraf, Jewett and Ammann all scored twice.
Krogman earned the pitching win, giving up five runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout in three innings of work.
