Bombers Maroon extend win streak to six games

SIOUX FALLS – The Bombers Maroon pushed their win streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep of Sioux Falls West 13U Navy on Friday at Harmodon.

Brookings won 14-4 and 14-1, with both games ending after five innings.

Brookings (32-10) closes out the regular season with two more doubleheaders on the road this weekend, taking on the Brandon Valley 13s today at 1 p.m. and the Harrisburg 13s on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Game 1

• Brookings 14, Sioux Falls West 4 (5 inn.)

The Bombers Maroon scored six runs in the first inning and eight in the fifth to post the lopsided victory.

Nine different Brookings batters recorded at least one hit, as the team totaled 13 for the game.

Talon Richter was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Ashton Witte, who doubled, and Sam Hardin, who singled, contributed two RBIs apiece.

Cole McKeown, who doubled, and Jake Ammann both totaled two hits and an RBI.

Trey Svennes singled and doubled. Payton Theodosopoulos had a double and an RBI.

Also collecting hits for the Bombers Maroon were Caden Krogman and Joshua Devine.

McKeown, Svennes, Ammann, Zachary Moe and Witte each scored twice.

Hardin pitched all five innings to earn the win. He allowed four runs on five hits and four walks with one strikeout.

Game 2

The Bombers Maroon kept on rolling in the nightcap, pulling away from a 5-1 lead with seven runs in the fourth frame.

Theodosopoulos led the offensive charge with five RBIs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Lincoln Hardin was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Richter tallied a single and two RBIs, and Logan Bortnem finished with a pair of hits.

Witte, who doubled, Brock Longville, who singled, and Ammann added an RBI apiece.

Jack Even and Devine had the team’s other hits.

Bortnem and Longville each scored three runs, while Hardin and McKeown both scored twice.

Richter tossed a two-hitter and did not allow an earned run. He walked seven batters and struck out two.
