Bombers Maroon goes 2-1

SIOUX FALLS – Bombers Maroon went 2-1 in the Mid-Summer Classic in Sioux Falls over the weekend.

• Black Hills Thunder 9, Brookings 1 (5 inn.)

Bombers Maroon got out to a 1-0 in the top of the first inning. The lead would not last long as the Black Hills Thunder scored two runs in the bottom of the inning. Black Hills would then score three runs in the third and two runs in the fourth to take a 8-1 lead.

Austin Clark pitched three innings and gave up five runs, four earned on seven hits with one strikeout and two walks.

• Brookings 13, Yankton 4 (5 inn.)

Brookings was up 7-3 in the fourth inning when they scored six runs to give them a 10-run lead and end the game.

Will Bauer pitched four innings and gave up three runs, one earned, on three hits with three strikeouts and four walks.  

Girard went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and David Brink went 1-for-2 with a RBI.

Brookings trailed 4-3 heading into the fourth inning and used a nine-run fourth inning to take the lead. 

Bauer went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Hirschoff went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Merritt and Austin Clark each went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
