YANKTON – The Bombers Maroon split a doubleheader with the Yankton Reds 13U on Tuesday afternoon at Riverside, winning the opener 7-5 in 10 innings and dropping the nightcap 7-6 in five innings.

Brookings (9-4) plays host to the Sioux Falls East 13s today at 4 p.m.

Parker Winghart pitched four scoreless innings in relief and also scored what proved to be the winning run as the Bombers Maroon prevailed in 10 innings.

Winghart struck out four batters and walked two while not allowing a hit, as he picked up the victory.

Winghart drew a base on balls with one out in the top of the 10th. He stole second and third, before sprinting home on a wild pitch with two outs. Justin Cofell, who singled with two away, also scored to provide Brookings with an insurance run.

Matt Nordmeyer and Cofell both finished with a pair of hits.

Kellan Aure and Zach Struck had a hit and an RBI apiece. Rocklyn Dauphinias drove in a run. Nathan Lease and Andrew Bishop each added a hit. Max Enevoldsen walked four times.

Lease, the starter, allowed five runs – four earned – on eight hits with five strikeouts and a walk in six innings.

Yankton scored two runs in the first frame and led 4-2 through three. Brookings later pulled even at 5-all with a pair of runs in the sixth inning.

The Reds’ Conner Teichroew had two RBIs, while Rugby Ryken (RBI) and Garrett Nelson both finished 2-for-5.

Oswald’s hit plated Luke Bernatow, who tied the game with an RBI double in the previous at-bat.
